Space and Satellite

Space and Satellite technology relies on highly efficient solar technology to provide power to space stations and satellites. At present the only existing technology that can be used in Space is a layered solar cell which can provide the power by using mirrors to reflect the light so that it hits the surface of the cell perpendicularly and is then able to pass through all the layers. This technology is highly complex and costly to manufacture. The technology also adds significant weight to the satellite which is a problem when satellites are first launched into space.

Seeds are developing solar technology that has the potential to absorb a broader part of the solar spectrum, vastly improving on efficiencies. The nano-particles are spherical in design and can therefore absorb incident light from any angle. The inks can be made into flexible films that can be coated onto curved surfaces with minimal extra weight added.
